How can i fatten up my guinea pig?

I know i have asked this before... probably a while ago, but. My guinea pig has been at my Dad's house and he has forgotten to feed him a lot. I now feed him every day. He gets one full bowl of pellets every day, 1/2 cup to 1 cup of veggies everyday. So far he has tried, baby carrots, grape tomatoes, romaine lettuce, and kale and has liked them all. The day after i got him, which was may 16th, i weighed him for the first time and he was 2 pounds exactly. I thought that this was too skinny because i can feel his backbone sticking out when i pet him or touch him. I started the diet mentioned before as soon as i found out what to feed him and how much and that was about 2 days after i got him. I decided that he would gain weight after a while and so i weighed him on may 22nd and he only weighed 2 pounds and one ounce. I figured to wait longer so i weighed him today (june 6th) and still, he only weighs 2 pounds and one ounce. I have herd that many peoples guinea pigs weigh around 2 pounds and 3 somewhat ounces. Almost 3 pounds maybe. I still feel his backbone sticking up. In the past he has not been well taken care of because we first found him in someones front yard near the road and my dads friend took him and brought him to us. His nails were extremely long and he was starving. We had someone at least trim his nails a little and then we got him guinea pig food right away and then my dad as i said forgot about him sometimes. So now at my house, he is fed, cleaned every day and he got his nails cut short. I have been researching a lot about guinea pigs and am trying to get him healthy again, i am first starting off by getting him well fed, a bigger cage, and i am working on getting a guinea pig cage. I am soso sorry that this is so long and i would appreciate if you could tell me anything about them but specifically how to get him some weight and what store (please not online) where i could get a big enough cage for one guinea pig but no more than about 70-75$.( I would like it to be a little cheaper than that though) Thank you, i appreciate any help you could give me :) and i again apologize for this being so long but i just don't want my guinea pig to get sick and i thought that it would help to give a little background info. :)

I am so sick of that stereotype! Words cannot even beigin to fathom my empathy for it!!! I am a Hispanic male, 14. We've been living in the U.S. For 7 years now. My father is an orthodontist, he makes $365,000 a year. My mother is a homemaker. Currently, I am enrolled in a private school, I am in all AP classes with a 4.0 GPA. I'm not too big on sports, but that might change since I want something to look good on a college application (I am in tons of clubs, though). Even though I have lived here a short 7 years, I would consider myself almost a master of the English Language. I have been riveted by all that it has to offer and how the eloquence of one's words can clearly place their education and social position. I spend my free time immersing myself in literature. I can speak fluent English, French, and Spanish and am learning Latin. I love the works of authors like Shakespeare (he is my idol) and love to play chess, read, write, paint, and play the violin. i have been writing novels since I was 6 (the early ones were obviously in Spanish, I learned to write fairly good English after living here for a year) and am working on getting one published. To me, this seems proof enough that Hispanics can be smart and successful. My paternal grandfather is a CEO, making over 3 million a year. My maternal grandfather is a wealthy dentist in Colombia. My mother, while unemployed to care of the home, is certified to be a dentist and has her degree. I don't understand why so many people continue to think of us as wild, rocous people who are uncivilized brutes, because we are not. Too old for USAF & Flight School?

I'm 22, recently decided to buckle down with college and will have my AA in a month or so. I've wanted to be a pilot since I was 6 and learned that my grandfather was a mechanic and worked on p-51 mustangs. However like most dreams we have as children that seems to be a ridiculous idea as you grow older. This one has kind of always stuck with me in some way and I'm starting to think about it a lot recently. I understand that only a VERY select few become fighter pilots, while other end up flying cargo or fuel. I've heard everything there is to hear about the difficulty and slim chances of becoming a pilot. I didn't come hear to hear more about that. I would love to fly for the USAF or Navy, however hard it is to land on a carrier lol. My only question is, am I too old to go down that road? I've heard about some "high-school to flight-school" program which may have been my best bet, but my head was elsewhere when I was in high-school. Any and all answers are appreciated, thank you.

fill your clean sink halfway full of cold water, then add 2/3 c white vinegar. add your kale leaves, swish around for a minute, then let them sak for 5-10 minutes. the soaking alows all the sediment and contaminants to fall to the bottom. pull your kale out and place in a collander, drain your sink, then rine your kale very well. then let it dry on paper towels. I have made kale chips before with fresh kale from the farmer's market and had to wash it this way. there was a lot of dirt at the bottom of my sink after soaking, which is why you rinse it again in the collander. the kale chips I made were salt and vinegar, and I found them too bitter. good luck!

DCF was called on us earlier this month, all was lies. I let them talk to my son alone (just him and the case worker). They want to do a follow up to see he is a good weight for his age, up to date on shots and stuff. I know they are going to want to talk to him alone again. I didn't/don't have anything to hide so I let him talk to them the first time alone (also didn't think I had an option). Bearded dragon stopped growing!?

Hi I got my bearded dragon about 1 and a half years ago and he has been growing until he stopped at about 8 months. He is Only 13 inches and stopped shedding. He looks nothing like your normal 1 and a half year old bearded dragon.He has A 10.0 Compact uvb exo terra bulb i replaced it about 2 months ago he can get about 7 inches close to the uvb bulb. He has a zoo med 100 watt basking bulb. He eats 25 crickets every 2 days. And a salad every day(Kale Mustard Greens Collards). Is it too late for him to stop growing?

I have read several places that a person can get dual citizenship to Italy with no generation limit. After researching i am still unsure if I'm eligible. My great great grandfather was born in Italy in 1870, he came to America in the late 1800s I'm not sure what year but he is listed on the 1910 US census, along with his wife and children, so I'm guessing it was the late 1800s when he migrated. How to Help Achieve Abs?

I am a 15 year old boy who is 5'10" and about 150lbs. Lately I have been doing cardio exercises (not strictly just for cardio) such as basketball and running. I also have been doing ab exercises. I do these obviousley because I want abs not just for the ladies but also for myself. My dad seems to think that I may be genetically incapable of getting abs as he has never had them nor my grandfather. But my brother did (he has a different dad). I also eat like a typical teenager but drink a lot of gatorade and mostly water with a soda like 2 or 3 times a week. I don't know if this will be bad for my abs or not. Also, I have very minimal body fat most of which is on my stomach, just enough to cover the abs that I can feel beneath. My grandfather dies in 2003, sole title deed holder on his property, left everything to his daughter (mu mum): however her step-mother ( widow), told my mum she had not been left a thing. Mum never had corresponsdance from the solicitor to explain the will: however 18 months later, step-mother calls and asks my mum is she would be happy with 50 %. Thinking she had nothing, mum agreed on the phone: again nothing from the solicitor to explain. Then mum gets a letter from the solicitor, think it was a deed of variation . asking her to sign, which she did: then gets a confirmation that she is now 50% owner. However, the original will said it was mums but step-mother had a life interest in the property, so could live there rent free but had to pay the upkeep ( as stated in the will). trust status would continue to be in force even if step- mother brought a new property. Trust was set up for the benefit of GD's children ( my mum). the solicitor who was dealing for it on behalf of the step-mother, seems to have used a verbal ok from the step-mother, to let her gain 50% of the property, but without informing my mum fully: has my mum been mislead? also, the property is now for sale, and the step-mother wants to dissolve the trust,, so mum and her get their 50% now..not comfortable with that either. any advice would be gratefully received. we are going to seek legal advice, but need something to go on. thanks

ok, tuesday i went to the doctors and my doctor was going through my symptoms, and right away she asked if my thyroid gland was always swollen. i replied "it's always looked like that?" because i have never known anything different. she felt around on my neck and said that my gland was defiantly very swollen. they did a bunch of blood work and said that she would contact us when she had any information. she said that i might have an overactive thyroid, i was wondering if that can run in the family. my grandfather had to have his thyroid removed because he had an overactive thyroid and medication wasn't working for him. i've noticed that where my thyroid gland is gets sore sometimes. she said that it was a high possibility because i'm underweight and VERY underdevolped =(. so, if anybody has this problem, can you tell me some signs and symptoms of an overactive thyroid? or a website that can give me some info? thanks~!

Grandfathers WW2 airborne tattoo...?

Its a bit of a grey area. It is disrespectful to wear an airborne tab you havent earned. Some might find it a nice memorial others might think your being a poser. You being a pilot doesnt change it. It would actually be worse if you were in the military and didnt earn the tab and you were wearing it. My suggestion would be to go ahead and use the image but change the airborne tab. How to Help Achieve Abs?

I am a 15 year old boy who is 5'10" and about 150lbs. Lately I have been doing cardio exercises (not strictly just for cardio) such as basketball and running. I also have been doing ab exercises. I do these obviousley because I want abs not just for the ladies but also for myself. My dad seems to think that I may be genetically incapable of getting abs as he has never had them nor my grandfather. But my brother did (he has a different dad). I also eat like a typical teenager but drink a lot of gatorade and mostly water with a soda like 2 or 3 times a week. I don't know if this will be bad for my abs or not. Also, I have very minimal body fat most of which is on my stomach, just enough to cover the abs that I can feel beneath. I am looking for ways to increase abs and lose the fat and also find out if my typical diet (pizza, subway, also some vegetables) may be affecting this, or if you can really be genetically incapable of achieving abs. Have you been referred to a sleep specialist? I have heard of people with extreme insomnia "re-training" their sleeping patterns by staying in their room between 11pm and 6am and sleeping (if possible) then staying out of their rooms any other time. Another thing you could do is think about your sleeping environment. I know it sounds silly, but maybe re-arranging the furniture in your room, or re-painting or redecorating it as you may have formed a negative association unconsciously with your surroundings. Do you find it easier sleeping in other places? I don't think sedatives would help you long term as it doesn't sound like a simple problem that can be treated with short-term solutions. I don't think any over the counter things would help either, in the UK you can only get sedating antihistamines which are only supposed to be for short term use anyway. You can buy some herbal things which contain ingredients such as Valerian which you could have a try, but make sure you have a chat with your doctor or pharmacist first to check they are suitable. But it really sounds like you need specialist help, especially as you've had the problem for so long and from such a young age. Hope this helps

DCF wants to talk to my son alone?

DCF was called on us earlier this month, all was lies. I let them talk to my son alone (just him and the case worker). They want to do a follow up to see he is a good weight for his age, up to date on shots and stuff. I know they are going to want to talk to him alone again. I didn't/don't have anything to hide so I let him talk to them the first time alone (also didn't think I had an option). I've been reading up on it now though, is it correct that I can have another adult present while they talk to him? For instance, would my dad (child's grandfather) be ok? Or a neighbor that lives across the street from me? I have an appointment in two days to do the follow up talk, not sure what this means, but I assume they want to talk to my son. I only got the message left on my phone by the caseworker, they set up the appointment at 11am for us with two days notice, we have work and that is the time we go to library storytime. Death is like a dream for me. A place of peace and sleep where all the worries and hell of life are gone... Heartbroken re decision made?

My 18 year old son has had mental health issues for many years namely due to horriffic sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of his bioligical father & grandfather. Since he chose to file charges with the police, his biological father committed suicide, his grandfather was called to trial but the prosecutors felt there was not enough 'evidence' to take it to trial & in the publics best interest to withdraw all charges from the grandfather so he got off scott free. I have had my son in multiple private hospitals seeking the best of psychiatric care for the last two years since he left school. He is addicted to drugs, pain medication, marijuana, you name it. He has attempted suicide a multitude of times & last night was the final straw in that he terrified my 3 year old son (his step brother), myself & his step father by indicating we were at harm & to lock ourselves in our bedroom throughout the night, that he cut himself up with a knife across his arms & legs & my fiance had to wrestle a large carving knife from him. We had police come to the house, he had a seizure in front of them & the ambulance arrived to take him to hospital but he walked out of there today as our mental health system in Western Australia is pathetic, they release mental health patients at the drop of a hat. We have told him many times previously that we cannot keep putting up with him living under our roof with his addictions that he doesn't seem to want to address & he is scaring his little 3 year old brother so he has to move out. I am heartbroken telling my own child he is not welcome in our home. He told me today we don't care about him, we don't love him, we only love his little brother, he is our only son & he is going to kill himself & we will have his blood on our hands. I have for years tried so many hospitals, psychs, taken so much time off work jeopardising my job trying to help him, I recently secured him a job & we thought things were going well but he took days off on drug induced illness. I can't help but feel guilty about our decision to have him look for crisis accommodation. I have tried to intervene & help him do this today but he told me to stay out of his life. I feel like I'm a terrible mother & have let my own flesh & blood down.

I have read several places that a person can get dual citizenship to Italy with no generation limit. After researching i am still unsure if I'm eligible. My great great grandfather was born in Italy in 1870, he came to America in the late 1800s I'm not sure what year but he is listed on the 1910 US census, along with his wife and children, so I'm guessing it was the late 1800s when he migrated. I'm scared to go to sleep after the nightmare I had last night. How can I make sure I don't dream it again?

My grandma died two years ago and I often dream about her. But last night I had a really bad nightmare about her. We were out shopping when she suddenly died. He has a UVA, UVB and and I just bought a heat lamp tonight. I do not have a thermometer but I know the last few mornings he was cold so I am hoping the heat lamp will eliminate that. Why are dead people buried in coffins instead of without?

I know people want to say "to give a proper burial" or so to "make the dead comfortable". Really all the coffin is is a box. The dead won't be comfortable because they are dead not alive. They won't feel anything. Plus a beautiful coffin won't make being dead easier on the spirits of the dead people and it won't insure the people get into Heaven. Average male guinea pig weight?

I just recorded my male guinea pig's weight and it looked like he was around 2.5-3 pounds. He eats well (like a pig) and he drinks normally. He gets treats about twice a day which include Kale (weekly),carrots,romaine lettuce,cucumber and occasional fruits. I'm not sure of his exact age but his fur was changing color about a month ago,starting right after I got him but it stopped now. I am guessing he is about a year old,or pretty close to it. Why can't my wife support my decisions at all?

I know it's long, but please consider answering. I would be so grateful. We've been together a few years and had our ups and downs. Sometimes she's great and I love her very much. I got out of school and am in the process of finding work. We had some problems last year that involved her flirting with various men, especially with a man at her work. She tore me down when I found out (she was apologetic at first but it didn't last), flirting more at random (delivery guys, repair men, etc.) and insulting me with jokes about my manhood. She eventually showed too much of herself to the young guy down the street (19 or 20 yrs old) and he came over while she was gardening at the side of the house in less than enough clothes. She sat and chatted with him about sports and his soccer team while I fumed inside. We talked about her actions many times and she eventually said it was because she felt I hadn't given her the lifestyle she expected when we met. She expected a big house and three kids by now (she turned 30 recently). But those times when I have worked hard at my part time job during school or spent hours studying, she complained she felt neglected. Lately, I was depressed and lacked motivation and graduation was not good. I thought she might leave at any time. On the job front, many of my classmates have had trouble finding work, but recently I felt really invigorated and motivated. I went downstairs today and basically told my wife that "I'm going to get out there and show these people they can't hold me back." I felt great for the first time in weeks. She immediately turned on me, told me I'm being a jerk and that my only goal should be to be nice to others. I felt like for once, after everything that happened, she could have been happy I had my drive back. She's told me plenty of times to get out there and do what you need. Now when I've been fired up, she says I'm a jerk. When she was looking for her job last month, she was offered a lousy position at a school in a bad part of town, which treated the kids like fools. My wife said she wanted to teach kids to achieve in life, and so held out for another job though she did not know if she would get one. She did, and I supported her in all this. But I'm in Catch-22 with her all the time. At lunch yesterday she said her grandfather had eaten her food (he lives with us). I said I would ask him not to eat her food from the fridge, she said that I was being rude and should respect her grandfather. Today at lunch, same complaint, he had eaten her food again. I said nothing, and so she got angry at me saying I should solve the problem. What was I supposed to do? It bothers me that any answer I have is the wrong answer, whether little issues or big ones. It bothers me that because I don't give her everything she wants she treats me like crap. We have all the basics, she wants extras. Why can't she support me when I need it? Why is everything I do wrong?

Just give them parakeet seed. It's made for them for a reason-- you should always supplement w/veggies and fruit (for vitamins) for any pellet or seed diet anyways.

Raw Vegan Question - I am switching to a raw vegan life style...?
